Amira is a belly dancer in high demand in the Seattle area.
For over a decade, Amira has been pleasing audiences with
a unique blend of jubilant energy, passion, and grace. She
performs regularly at Caspian Persian Grill, Zaina in Pioneer
Square, Spiro’s Greek Island and Marrakesh Moroccan
Restaurant; she has been seen on several stages throughout
the Seattle area including Kane Hall, the Baltic Room, the
Crocodile Cafe, and the Langston Hughes Performing Arts Center;
and she has performed with many other artists including Rhythms
of India, MB Orchestra, Fricker’s Follies, The Red Elvises
and Kultur Shock. Amira is featured in the recent DVD from
the International Academy of Middle Eastern Dance, released in March of 2007.
Amira also serves on the board of directors of Middle East
Arts International, a nonprofit organization dedicated to
promoting excellence in Middle Eastern performing arts. Since
1996, she has been a member of Zaphara’s Middle Eastern
Dancers, a well-known dance troupe that performs at festivals
and benefits throughout the Pacific Northwest; and she is
also a member of Banaat al-Jenayna, which made its debut in
2004 and has since been invited to dance in Canada and Argentina.
Amira has been teaching belly dance since 2002 and she continues
to enhance her dance knowledge by studying with instructors
throughout the western United States, Canada, and Australia.
In 2003, Amira was a finalist in the Belly Dancer of the Year
Competition and placed third in a national belly dancing competition
held in Virginia.
